Amang Freens is short, sweet and simple. I find the longer I've been writing songs, the more I tend to try to work with the poetry of the lyrics to tell a story or express an emotion as concisely as I can. This song may have a touch of pauky, kailyard sentimentality, a wee deoch of Harry Lauder, but it soars above that and reaches the stars – literally.
In a way too this may be a swansong for me. Like many a writer I've had the desire, but the muse has flown for now, the whispers on the wind from the nameless and unvoiced have quieted. But I'll be back if my Coila returns, mind.
And as mentioned in my previous submissions on MusicHub, I'm an intuitive songwriter – I don't read or write music, and for me the tunes come with the words. Simon was kind enough to allow me to upload my sheets. If the lyrics appeal, there's a youtube link for the tune.
Tune type: Scots Song
